Professional Development for academic staff

Professional development is essential to the core business of any university that seeks to respond effectively to the unique needs of its ever-changing student population.

Teaching & Learning Dev. Centre

The TLDC conceptualizes and coordinates continuous professional development activities and through the upgrading of academics’ qualifications where necessary. The hallmark of academic staff development is the improvement of classroom delivery skills, knowledge, values and attitudes, which will improve quality, build capacity and impact positively on the student throughput rate of the institution.

The following forms of professional development support initiatives are provided by TLDC:

  • Seminars /Workshops on Teaching and Learning, Curriculum Development, Assessment of Student Learning, Integration of Information Technology in Teaching and Learning, Development of Professional Portfolios and for Teaching Assistants
  • Induction programmes for academic staff members
  • Co-ordination and Hosting of Teaching and Learning Conferences
  • Training or department-specific forms of academic staff development conducted on request

The trainings may be offered face-to-face, online or in a blended mode. The training of academic staff members shall be arranged, coordinated and offered by the TLDC.
