Stakeholder Relations Management

Stakeholder Relations Management

Marketing and Communications

The Director: Stakeholder Relations Management at MUT is responsible for driving sustainable stakeholder engagement programmes within the offices of alumni relations; student recruitment; government and business relations. The unit applies a variety of integrated stakeholder relations strategies thorough research on key stakeholders, what they need from us and what we need from them to drive a sustainable stakeholder relations programme. The unit is also responsible for ensuring that relations with different stakeholder groupings are nurtured and sustained. Our focus is providing various platforms for our alumni to connect and reconnect with each other and with their almar mata; cultivating a culture of giving within our alumni, and creating real-time role models for our pre & young alumni. Our institution is in a quest to provide a diverse student community, this also is the responsibility of the Stakeholder Relations Management Unit. To provide the diverse student body, the Stakeholder Relations Management Unit undertakes different student recruitment strategies all over South Africa and within the SADC region. We drive a proactive recruitment strategy through recognition awards for top performing schools; school visits; cluster presentations; career exhibitions; and campus tours. We achieve our mandate through a range of sustainable stakeholder relations activities and an integrated marketing and communications approach. We exist to delight MUT stakeholders and position the institution positively to all stakeholder groupings.

Operational Structure

Schools Liaison

The Schools Liaison Office is responsible for promoting the University and its diploma programmes to prospective students. The Schools Liaison Officers conduct school visits, attend career fairs & career exhibitions, organise Open Days and other campus based events in order to advise learners and educators on courses available at the University.

Alumni Relations

Our key stakeholders are alumni. Students become alumni upon completion of their qualifications and graduation from MUT. Their relationship with MUT doesn’t have to end after graduation. Once their tertiary career is over they need guidance in order to find their feet in the ‘outside’ world. This is why the Alumni Affairs office exists. This office helps keep alumni connected to the University and also organises fundraising drives aimed at alumni. Create networking opportunities for the benefit of our students and the alumni professional progression also falls within this office’s responsibility.

Government & DoE Relations

This section cultivates and manages our relationship with these strategic partners. Our access to secondary/high schools and educators for purposes of recruitment is reliant upon good working relationship with DoE officials. This office manages that relationship through the establishment of mutually beneficial collaborations with all DoE officials nationally. Other government departments and ministries run programmes that can benefit the work of MUT, the partnerships and access to the rest of MUT is managed through this section of MarComms.

Internal Communications (Support Staff)

This unit is responsible for all communication with support/administrative staff. Internal Communication is important in ensuring an informed staff community that is interactive and engaged.
