Schools Liaison Officer thanks staff for making the Open Day a success

Sthembile Maphumulo-Ndlovu addressing school learners from different schools during the Open Day

Although the university has never run short of students to enroll every semester, the Department of Marketing and Communications’ Schools Liaison team has always wanted to do more and better. Sthembile Maphumulo-Ndlovu said they were guided by a set of principles; the decisions they take are along these principles. On 20 March 2024, we took the MUT team to Khombindlela High School, in Empangeni, under King Cetshwayo District, to tell the learners about the University offers. The event was Open Day and was attended six high schools from the Dlangezwa Circuit.

The University’s different departments – academic and non-academic, had a mouth full for the leaners. The messages relayed to the learners will help them make informed decisions as they think about applying for the post-matric studies next year. Leaners were overjoyed as they witnessed the Department of Chemistry experiments done by staff.

Maphumulo-Ndlovu said what even more important for her was how the MUT staff collaborated to make the Open Day a success. Said Maphumulo-Ndlovu: “There are two segments to any event of this nature. Organising it and implementing it. One depends on the other. I must thank our colleagues for coming to the party in a big way. They made the whole trip a lovely occasion for us to remember,” said Maphumulo-Ndlovu.
