Rockstar DVC continues to position brand MUT

Professor Nokuthula Sibiya

The EnergyWaterFoodClimate Nexus Summit Local Organising Committee Chair, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya who is also MUT’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Engagement, continues to elevate the MUT brand. Media relations is not easy; it is a career on its own. This week, we have been humbled by Professor Sibiya’s efforts in taking so many media interviews. And there are still more to come. The focus is making sure the EnergyWaterFoodClimate summit draws participation and support from across the globe.  Successful media relations is one of the best steps towards brand positioning; therefore, to get a willing and knowledgeable partner to dedicate time towards promoting research, teaching & learning, as well as international projects of MUT creates positive perceptions about MUT. “It has been a really busy week with back-to-back interviews both in English and iSizulu, I must say I have learnt a lot myself as I have had to address climate issues in vernacular to accommodate ordinary South Africans who are a main target for the summit as we aim to build a new generation of climate change advocates,” said Prof Sibiya.

This week alone, Professor Sibiya had media interviews with these global and national media houses: News Central, Newzroom Africa, eNCA, Channel Africa, East Coast Radio, Radio Langa, Vibe FM, Voice of Wits, and Channels TV.  Coverage was also in some print media including Famers Review Africa and Pretoria News. More interviews are lined up for the coming weeks to intensify the recruitment for the EnergyWaterFoodClimate Nexus Summit hosted by MUT in partnership with Florida A&M University from 1-4 July 2024.
