FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MUT Vice-Chancellor hosts dinner for stakeholders

Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) continues to roll out its plan to affirm and sustain relationships with various stakeholders to position the University locally and abroad.  On 7 December 2023, the MUT’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marcus Ramogale will be hosting the Vice-Chancellor’s Stakeholder Dinner at Durban’s Elangeni Hotel.  Stakeholders who support MUT’s vision, goals, and objectives will be in attendance. These range from government departments (local, provincial, and national) to school districts, NPOs, corporations, and important individuals.

At the dinner, the Vice-Chancellor will acknowledge the contribution of various stakeholders who through the years have supported several University initiatives that have benefited MUT students and the community of Umlazi Township.  The over-arching aim of the Vice-Chancellor’s dinner is brand positioning and stakeholder stewardship.  The VC wants to remind MUT stakeholders and the entire University community that the institution has to empower the nation, not only through education but also by initiating various programmes focused on alleviating societal grand challenges. The University has been able to roll out many programmes with the support of the stakeholders who always rise to the occasion to team up with the Institution to provide solutions for the various community challenges.  The dinner focuses on amplifying the stakeholders’ goodwill towards the University.

The programme for the evening will include a signing of various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with some of the University partners, as well as a special stakeholder appreciation ceremony.  The Vice-Chancellor will also outline some of the upcoming special projects from his Office and solicit support to see those projects through.  One of the major upcoming VC projects is the international EnergyWaterFoodClimate Nexus to be co-hosted in partnership with Florida A&M University in 2024.

Mbali Mkhize, Senior Director: Marketing and Communications said: “We want to put our MUT brand in the public eye all the time. Nowadays it is more than essential to constantly remind people of your existence, and your intention. The stakeholders that we will be meeting on Thursday evening will be people that always spread a positive word about the good things that MUT does for the community, and the nation at large.”
