MUT Administrator appointed Chair of student funding body

Professor Lourens van Staden

The University’s Administrator, Professor Lourens van Staden, has been appointed by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, as Acting Chairperson of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). This development has been welcomed by the University. The Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya, penned a few congratulatory words for Professor van Staden:

On behalf of the MUT Executive, I wish to congratulate Professor Lourens Van Staden, for being appointed as the Acting Chairperson of the NSFAS Board.  MUT is proud to be associated with someone of your calibre. Wishing you all the best.

Responding to the notice, Professor Van Staden used KZN’s vernacular, “Ngiyabonga” a language he has mastered which has also become his signature language to those lucky enough to informally converse with him.
