More details are shared about the 2024 SASUF Research and Innovation Week

Univen’s Thabo Dikgale making a presentation during this week’s SASUF Tuesday meetingWhile the countdown to the week-long meeting in Sweden in May 2024 has started, there is still a lot to be done. This fact became clear on 24 October 2023, as the University staff and a guest speaker from the University of Venda, Thabo Dikgale, Partnership Officer at the University of Venda’s International office met virtually to discuss matters related to the SASUF Research and Innovation Week in-person conference in Sweden, that will take place from 13-17 May 2024.

Digkale said, “Since 1 September 2023 to 17 November 2023, those interested in participating in the event are expected to register their interest. Exactly a week after the closure of the call, a compilation of received applications will be sent to all universities for ranking and nomination. After this step, there will be a lot that will happen until 5 April 2024, a day of the deadline for all responsible for workshops and satellite events to have updated information in the conference platform Sched.” Dikgale advised the attendees to visit for more information.

Dikgale, informed the attendees that the SASUF Research and Innovation Week consists of two main parts. “There will be a satellite event that will take place from 13-14 May 2024 at different universities across Sweden. This event is organised by researchers from different universities in Sweden and South Africa,” said Dikgale.  He said that this segment of the week would also have a “South African Vice-Chancellors Programme in Stockholm”.

There will also be a second segment of the event, which will be an in-person attendance. This will be called the Sustainability Forum in southern Sweden, which will take place from 15-17 May 2024.  This segment will be hosted at three of Sweden’s universities. The opening session will be at Lund University on 15 May 2024; the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences will host the Leadership Summit and Workshops, as well as conference sessions and poster sessions on the following day. The last part of the event will be at Malmo University on 17 May 2024.
