Today, 26 January 2024, one of the University staff members will be sharing a table with the Consulate General of India, Durban, Dr Thelma John David. Anil Lonappan, a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering has been invited by Dr David to attend the 75th Republic Day of India Reception Dinner at the Gujarati Hindu Sanskruti Kendra, Greyville. Lonappan, from the city of Trichur of Kerala S, India, is now a South African citizen, but has an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) status. Lonappan said he was “thankful for the Government of India (GOI) for looking after its diaspora very well”.
