The University’s efforts to elevate the MUT brand has seen the University attracting top media during this election season. MUT will host the Daily News Town Hall discussion (Imbizo) on election-related issues as the country moves closer to the national election date which is 29 May 2024.
The Imbizo, which is scheduled for 17 May 2024, will be attended by 60 people, and will feature speakers from different political parties. The discussion will be moderated by a panel of editors, including Daily News, The Mercury, The POST, Independent on Saturday, and Sunday Tribune. The University will get coverage in all these titles.
Senior Director: Marketing and Communications, Mbali Mkhize, said they appreciated the bid from the Daily News to give the University to host the event. “We regard this as a chance for MUT to contribute towards the strengthening of the 30 years of democracy,” said Mkhize. A few years ago, the University hosted a live SABC broadcast on a similar topic before the 2019 national elections.
Sinethemba Hlela, Marketing and Brand Officer for the Daily News, said the collaboration “highlights MUT’s commitment to dialogue and engagement”.
