Tutorial Programme

The Tutorial programme plays an essential function in contributing to student success. The TLDC facilitates the implementation of the tutorship programme by engaging senior students as student assistants (tutors, teaching assistants, lab demonstrators and student aides) to provide extra academic support to fellow students. The TLDC supports the tutorial programme by making project funds available from the University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP). Student assistants represent an extension of the formal curriculum.

The proper functioning of the tutorial programme is a core responsibility of the academic departments and the TLDC. Academic departments are charged with the functioning and enforcing tutorial attendance as specified in the rules and regulations handbook, and the TLDC provides training and reporting oversight of the programme.
