Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) students will return to the polls on Thursday, 1 October 2026, when the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections resume after being disrupted on 17 September 2026.
The University’s Executive Management Committee and the Student Affairs Committee of Council approved the new date after the Interim Dean of Students, Professor Sibusiso Chalufu, presented a revised election plan and consultation framework.
Voting will take place at the Dr Pixley ka Seme Hall, with the voting station open from 07:30 until 23:00. The extended hours are intended to give every student, including those with lectures, tests, practicals or work commitments, enough time to cast their vote. The University has strengthened security for the day, so the process runs safely, smoothly and fairly. Students can expect a visible security presence and strict verification processes at and around the venue.
All eligible students are encouraged to vote. The SRC is the official voice of students in university governance and plays a key role in shaping student life at MUT, so every vote helps decide who will represent students’ interests in the year ahead. Students are reminded to bring their valid student cards to the voting station.
