The Learning and Teaching Development Centre (LTDC) recently welcomed students and staff to its dynamic annual Open Day, held on the North Campus on 30 July 2026 and concluding on the Main Campus on 31 July 2026. The landmark event celebrated the Institution’s unwavering commitment to student success while officially introducing the Centre’s new brand identity. The event marked a major milestone for the division following its strategic transition from the Teaching and Learning Development Centre (TLDC) to the Learning and Teaching Development Centre (LTDC). Organisers noted that the updated name and brand identity reflect a renewed emphasis on learning as the core of the University’s academic mission.
Designed to bridge the gap between the University community and comprehensive academic resources, the two-day event showcased a wide range of initiatives aimed at empowering both students and lecturers. Visitors engaged directly with specialists across several key institutional units, which are Academic Literacy and Language Unit (ALLU), Mathematics, Science and Mathematics Education Unit (MSEU), eLearning Unit, Teaching Professional Development Unit (TPDU) and the Writing Centre.
Through interactive exhibitions, information sessions, and one-on-one engagements, attendees gained practical insights into the diverse tools and services available to support them throughout their academic journeys. While the name has changed, leadership emphasized that its fundamental purpose remains unchanged – to partner closely with faculties, empower educators, and equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive.
The enthusiastic turnout and positive response from both the student body and staff underscored the growing importance of the LTDC as a vital strategic partner in driving quality learning and teaching at Mangosuthu University of Technology. As the University continues to champion academic excellence, the LTDC Open Day served as a powerful reminder that student success is a shared responsibility, built on a foundation of collaboration, innovation, and accessible support for every learner.
