The Directorate of Institutional Planning and Research (DIPR) led the intensive three-day planning process, facilitated the lekgotla, and coordinated the extensive preparatory and behind-the-scenes work required to keep the process moving. It was hard work for everyone involved!
The Directorate created an environment conducive to the deep reflection and rigorous interrogation that institutional planning requires. As attendees worked through strategic goals, indicators, targets, and proposed interventions, the DIPR team captured discussions and continuously updated working documents.
Much of this work happened after the formal sessions had ended. Inputs generated during the day were incorporated into working documents overnight, enabling participants to return the following morning to updated material and continue deliberations without losing momentum.
Most attendees thanked the team for maintaining the pace and quality of the process throughout the lekgotla. For Dr Liile Lekena-Bayaga, “The work that happens behind the scenes in a planning process of this magnitude can easily go unnoticed. The DIPR team demonstrated exceptional commitment. Documents were updated overnight, inputs were consolidated, and the team returned each day ready to support another demanding round of engagements. Their professionalism and dedication contributed enormously to the success of the Lekgotla,” she said, as the lekgotla ended.
