Fifteen MUT students received a significant boost to their academic journeys on 5 October 2026, following a laptop handover ceremony hosted by the Institution’s Financial Aid Office. The recipients, selected from a student population of over 14,000, are all funded by the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA). The beneficiaries are enrolled in diploma and advanced diploma qualifications across the Accounting and Public Management departments. Khutso Mabotha, ETDP SETA Provincial Manager, oversaw the physical distribution of the laptops. The devices were purchased directly from Van Schaik Bookstore by ETDP SETA.
Addressing the recipients during the event, Mabotha urged the students to maximise the use of the laptops for their educational growth and daily academic tasks. Financial Aid Office Manager Andrew Kubone underscored the donation’s rarity, reminding students that receiving such critical learning equipment from a sponsor is a unique privilege not available to most.
On behalf of all bursary recipients, student Tebelo Mofokeng thanked ETDP SETA for investing in their future, highlighting the positive impact the laptops will have on their studies. Financial Aid Office representative Cynthia Nkosi confirmed the event’s success, marking another step forward in supporting student success through key stakeholder partnerships.
