SUBJECT : IN MEMORY OF MR LUCKY XOLANI LONDI DLAMINI

Dear Colleagues and Students,

It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Mr Lucky Xolani Dlamini, fondly known to many as Londi. Londi was fatally shot yesterday morning on his way to work. Londi served as a dedicated driver in the Transport Department at Mangosuthu University of Technology, having joined the institution in the early 1990s. He was born on 30 May 1972, and throughout his years of service, he became an integral part of the MUT community. He leaves behind his wife, uMaSosibo and four children.

Londi was more than a driver — he was a brother, a colleague, and a friend to many. He was deeply loved and respected by both staff and students for his warmth, humility, and unwavering commitment to his work. I witnessed his selflessness on numerous occasions, especially when he and his fellow drivers went above and beyond to ensure our students reached events safely, even if it meant long hours and longer distances. His dedication and sense of duty were an inspiration to us all.

In Londi, we have lost a valuable member of our MUT family. His contribution to the university extended beyond the steering wheel — he helped drive our values of community, responsibility, and care. His presence will be sorely missed, and his legacy will live on in the lives of those he served and touched. Many of you will remember how we wore his uniform with pride.

On behalf of MUT, I extend our deepest condolences to Londi’s family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring us strength and unity during this difficult time.
