MUT strengthens graduation readiness through leadership, collaboration and values in action

Professor Marcus Ramogale

Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) is firmly on track to deliver a seamless graduation season, following a high-level planning session convened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, Professor Marcus Ramogale with the Special Graduation Committee. Held on 9 April 2026, the meeting brought together members of the Executive Management Committee (EMC), senior management, and heads of key support services. The session focused on ensuring alignment across all operational areas, while rigorously working through risk mitigation measures to guarantee a smooth and dignified graduation experience.

With 3,061 graduates set to be conferred, the University has demonstrated a high level of preparedness. Professor Ramogale emphasised the importance of precision, coordination, and accountability, underscoring his commitment to excellence in execution. If it were entirely up to him, he noted, every aspect of the ceremonies would run flawlessly. Yet, in a move that reflects both strategic awareness and institutional discipline, he also highlighted the importance of adhering to governance protocols. Certain considerations, he insisted, should be verified with the Interim Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Rushiella Songca, an approach that aligns closely with recent senior management training on ethics, emphasising that leadership sets the tone.

This moment was particularly significant. The deliberate call to consult and align at the highest level signals a shift within MUT’s leadership culture, one where values are actively practised. It reflects a growing institutional maturity, where decision-making is guided by mutual respect, accountability, and collective responsibility.

Professor Ramogale’s leadership in this instance clearly demonstrates MUT’s values in action. His approach embodies mutual respect while advancing a culture of growth in practice, one where continuous improvement and principled leadership shape institutional outcomes.

As MUT prepares to welcome close to 10,000 guests, the University does so with confidence, banking on cohesion and a shared commitment to excellence, ensuring that this milestone moment is both memorable and seamlessly delivered.
