Council

Dr Mosidi Makgae’s experience is within the scientific research and innovation field with particular focus on among others, environmental science, water chemistry, environmental impacts due to mining activities and mine dump rehabilitation. Her competencies include Project Management, General Management, experience in Minerals and Energy, Waste and Water Treatment and Environmental Management.

She obtained her PhD in Environmental Chemistry from Stellenbosch University in 2004. She has an MSc Chemistry, BSc Honours and BSc from North West University, as well as a Management Advancement Program from Wits Business School.

Dr Makgae has worked for several State-Owned Entities including Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR), South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA) and Council for Geoscience (CGS). 

She has supervised number of post graduate students, published her work in peer reviewed journals and has written a chapter in a book.

She has served as a Non-Executive Director of various State-Owned Entities, including Water Research Commission, various other Water Boards and the Strategic Fuel Fund. Currently, Dr Makgae is a Council member of Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a Board member at South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (NECSA). She is also running her own company, Geo-Environmental and Technical Services, as a Managing Director.
