MUT Radio has introduced a new informative feature, MUT Careers Indaba, aimed at providing prospective students with valuable information about studying at Mangosuthu University of Technology.
The weekly segment serves as a platform for providing essential information to learners and prospective students about university applications and admissions. Topics covered include application channels, admission requirements, application deadlines, available academic programmes, and other important guidance designed to help students make informed decisions about their higher education journey.
According to Awethu Kelese, Programme Manager and Head of News at MUT Radio, the feature was developed in response to growing demand for accurate, accessible information from prospective applicants. “MUT Careers Indaba is an informative feature on MUT Radio that provides prospective students with valuable insights about studying at MUT. The segment focuses on important topics such as application channels, admission requirements, application deadlines, and other essential information that helps learners make informed decisions about their academic future,” said Kelese.
The concept for the programme originated from discussions between Zama Sishi, Director of Stakeholder Relations, and Sthembile Maphumulo-Ndlovu, Schools Liaison Officer. Informal conversations in the corridors of the Department of Marketing and Communications sparked the idea of creating a dedicated platform to address the information needs of prospective students.
From MUT Radio’s perspective, the initiative was further motivated by the increasing number of application-related enquiries received through the station’s WhatsApp line. Presenters regularly received questions from listeners seeking information about admissions processes, but often lacked the detailed knowledge needed to provide comprehensive answers.
This highlighted the need for a dedicated feature that would allow reliable, up-to-date information to be shared directly by experts involved in student recruitment and admissions.
MUT Careers Indaba is proudly produced by Maphumulo-Ndlovu and Ayanda Blose, the Assistant Schools Liaison Officer in the Department. Through the programme, listeners receive accurate guidance on admissions, application procedures, and student recruitment matters directly from knowledgeable university representatives.
The feature airs every Thursday at 09:15 on MUT Radio, offering prospective students, parents, and educators an opportunity to engage with important information about studying at MUT.
For those unable to tune in during the live broadcast, episodes are available on demand in the MUT Radio Podcast Section under the department’s Folder, allowing listeners to access the information at their convenience.
With the launch of MUT Careers Indaba, MUT Radio continues to strengthen its role as a valuable communication platform, connecting the university with prospective students and supporting informed decision-making about higher education opportunities.
