MUT brought its very best to Dannhauser. Sixteen academic departments were on hand, presenting the MUT qualification mix to the eager potential MUT class of 2027. Five representatives from the Faculty of Management Sciences (Accounting, HR, Marketing, Office Technology, and Public Management), five from the Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences (Agriculture, Biomedical Sciences, Community Extension, Environmental Health, and ICT), and six from the Faculty of Engineering (Building, Civil, Survey, Chemical, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering). Each departmental representative shared detailed, accessible information about the programmes on offer. For many learners, it was the first time they had engaged so directly with a university, and the enthusiasm in the room was palpable.
Beyond academics, MUT ensured that learners could explore the full support ecosystem available to them on campus. Student Health Services, Student Counselling, Student Housing, Sports, and Financial Aid were all represented, giving learners and their educators a holistic picture of what life at MUT truly looks like. The Central Applications Office (CAO) was also present to walk learners through the application process. Their presence provided a practical and much-appreciated touch for students preparing to take that next step. Another key stakeholder represented was NSFAS, which was warmly welcomed by both learners and municipal leadership, who indicated that they have had to bear the brunt of learners rejected by NSFAS due to mundane but critical errors in their applications. Hearing from the funder one-to-one will surely give the learners greater accuracy when applications for funding open later in the year.
