The forthcoming State of the University Address (SOTU), scheduled for Monday, 29 September 2025, presents an opportunity for an in-depth reflection on the trajectory, development and prospective direction of MUT. Staff and students can anticipate a profound and visionary discourse from the institutional leadership, which will encapsulate both significant accomplishments and the urgent challenges that lie ahead.

Professor Nokuthula Sibiya, MUT’s Vice-Chancellor and Principal, and Convener of SOTU, articulated, “The address will, among its various themes, address the emotional toll of recent staff tragedies, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all members of our community. Additionally, I will highlight the contributions made by various divisions in promoting the advancement of the University, emphasising the importance of collaboration to enhance our collective capabilities, the empowerment of our students, and fostering inclusivity within our communities. Our continued efforts toward internationalisation, innovation and the cultivation of a campus environment conducive to pride and excellence will also feature prominently.”
