
In a proud moment for the academic community and the province of KwaZulu-Natal, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya, MUT Vice-Chancellor & Principal, has been nominated for the 9th Annual Gagasi FM Shero Awards 2025 in the Education category.
Gagasi FM, a leading regional commercial radio station that reaches over 1.3 million listeners, announced the nominations as part of its ongoing commitment to celebrating influential women across KwaZulu-Natal. Now in its 19th year of operation, Gagasi FM stands as the number one regional commercial radio station and ranks among South Africa’s top 10 radio stations overall.
The Shero Awards recognise women who are making significant strides in various sectors, highlighting their contributions to the growth and development of the province. This year, the awards will be presented across eleven categories, with Professor Sibiya being honoured for her exceptional leadership and dedication in the field of education.

The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, from 13h00 to 18h00 at one of the top hotels in Umhlanga. Professor Sibiya has been invited to attend with a guest to celebrate this remarkable recognition.
