One year in office: Tribute to Professor Nokuthula Sibiya
Professor Nokuthula Sibiya’s first year in office as Vice-Chancellor and Principal at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) demonstrates a proactive, strategic, and inclusive approach, laying a strong foundation across governance, student engagement, research performance, and global positioning for MUT’s continued transformation.
Historic landmark and strategic onboarding:
- Became MUT’s first female—and Umlazi‑born—Vice‑Chancellor & Principal on 01 August 2024, coinciding with the university’s 45th anniversary
- Launched her bold EXCEL strategic framework—Elevating academic excellence, X‑Factor Innovation, Community engagement, Leadership for a Better Future—as part of a “Business Unusual” vision unveiled at her formal inauguration in November 2024.
