Technology and Innovation director from Namibia attends WIPO Summer School

Among the delegates that are attending the 17th WIPO Summer School hosted by MUT in Durban, is a professional from Namibia, South Africa’s immediate neighbour to the southwest. Valerie Garises is a Director of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), an institution that shares a lot with MUT, and looks to the future in much the same way MUT does, hence a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two higher education organisations. In this role, Garises stewards NUST’s technology transfer office, incubator programmes, and industry collaborations to transform research into market-ready solutions. Garises’ participation in the WIPO Summer School 2025 underscores her commitment to advancing intellectual property strategy, technology transfer, and commercialization that deliver societal benefit.
