MUT has responded to the outcome of the court case involving the University staff. Shan Dwarika, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, was kidnapped and later found dead in May 2023. Three of the four suspects have been found guilty. One was acquitted. University Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya, said: “It was with a deep sense of relief and solemn reflection that I share the news that justice has finally been served in the tragic case of Shan Dwarika. The resolution of this case marks an important step in our collective healing. While we can never bring Dwarika back, we find comfort in knowing that those responsible for his brutal death will now face the full might of the law. May Dwarika’s soul rest in peace, and may this moment remind us of all the value of justice, accountability, and the enduring strength of our MUT.”
