In the heart of the MUT campus, an exhilarating transformation has been celebrated over the past four years through its vibrant radio station! The airwaves are alive with youthful energy, creativity, and dreams that are ready to take flight. As we mark this incredible 4th birthday, we remember the voices that have shaped our journey—Asanda Mnguni, Sli Dlamini, and Sandile “King” Nxumalo—each carving their unique path in the expansive world of media. Let’s continue to dream big and inspire one another!

Asanda, known for her soft-spoken charm, began her journey at MUT Radio as a shy presenter, using her platform to connect with listeners. She immersed herself in the craft of broadcasting, and her passion soon caught the attention of the industry. Today, Asanda has blossomed into a celebrated voice on one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most popular commercial radio stations, proving that a gentle spirit can indeed make a powerful impact.

Sli Dlamini’s story is one of relentless dedication. During her first year, she volunteered, pouring her heart into every broadcast, soaking up knowledge and experience like a sponge. Eventually, her hard work paid off, and she now shines in community radio. Sli’s voice echoes in the urban youth media landscape, where she has become a recognized figure, even gracing the pages of Truelove Magazine as a rising star.

Then there’s Sandile “King” Nxumalo, whose magnetic personality lit up the afternoon drive show at MUT Radio in 2022. With his infectious energy, he captivated audiences and fostered discussions that resonated deeply among the youth. After leaving MUT, Sandile transitioned into the world of digital content creation and became a YouTube personality, amassing over 10,000 subscribers. He now hosts lively debates and music showcases, creating a dynamic platform for the voices of his generation.

Their success stories ripple through the broader South African media landscape, a testament to the transformative power of student radio at MUT.

What began as a humble launchpad has turned into a vibrant trajectory, where the stories of Asanda, Sli, and Sandile inspire new generations of presenters to find their own voices. Their paths serve as a reminder that with passion, mentorship, and a little bit of courage, the possibilities are endless.
