On 23 October, during the oversight visit by the MUT Shareholder, the Department of Higher Education and Training, nicknamed by the attendees as the ‘elder’ during the DHET oversight visit, Professor Alfred Msomi, took an insightful and diplomatic approach towards stakeholder engagement during this visit. Big kudos go to him for building trust with the MUT Shareholder during this grant oversight visit. Using his institutional knowledge, he adopted a soft-diplomacy approach to tackle difficult discussions, thereby building long-term trust and cooperative partnerships. The input so impressed everyone that even Professor Msomi automatically accepted the nickname, ‘Elder’. On a serious note, Professor Msomi’s approach shows that MUT is finding itself and joining hands to speak with one voice as a united family.
