In a powerful demonstration of leadership, unity, and commitment to excellence, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Teaching and Learning, Professor Marcus Ramogale, recently convened a crucial senior management meeting to work on the Institutional Improvement Plan (IPP), aimed at responding to the Council on Higher Education’s (CHE) recommendations to enhance the Institution’s key functional areas, some of which are communication, governance, financial management, human resource management, research, teaching and learning, student support, quality management, community engagement, and institutional support.
What unfolded, however, was more than just a technical discussion. It became a reaffirmation of shared purpose. A defining message rang loud and clear: “We are MUT. We want MUT to excel.” Professor Ramogale’s positive energy reverberated throughout the sessions. From the moment the meeting began, it was clear that this was not just another compliance exercise; it was the beginning of a transformative journey. Professor Ramogale’s purpose-driven listening and inclusive facilitation style inspired confidence. Every contribution was met with affirmation, constructive reflection, and a tone that lifted the room. Delegates noted that he did not just lead; he guided, encouraged, and united.
Participants from various divisions commended Professor Ramogale’s leadership, with many highlighting the sense of collegiality and professionalism that defined the discussions. “Everything was taken on a positive note,” said one senior manager. “You could feel that we were not just ticking boxes; we were shaping the future of our Institution.”
The meeting underscored MUT’s readiness not only to address the CHE’s recommendations but also to do so with a sense of ownership, pride, and collective purpose. It also marked a cultural shift in the Institution — toward greater transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
In the words of one participant: “It is a new dawn for MUT.” Indeed, with leadership that listens, inspires, and acts — MUT is poised for excellence.
