Sport update

Bodybuilding – The University’s Bodybuilding male dominates the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) South African Championships in Witbank, Mpumalanga Province. The tournament took place from 1-3 September 2023.  Nkosingiphile Chivumbe, a second year Human Resources Management students, placed first in the Junior Under 23 Classic Bodybuilding category, and won a gold medal. Accounting first year student, Lindelani Mazibuko, also placed first in the Men’s Wheelchair Bodybuilding, and also won a gold medal, while  Mvelo Khumala, a third year Quantity Surveying student placed third, and won a bronze medal.

Netball and Football – Tomorrow, the MUT Sport Residence League will roll out a Sport Residence League bonanza in netball and football at the University sport grounds. Twelve netball residence-based teams will take each other on from 10am, to 12 noon at the University netball grounds. Some of these teams are Corner House, Lonsdale, Grand Lodge, and Urban Life.

From 9am to 2:45pm, 10 football teams will compete for dominance at the sport field. Some of the teams are 385 Smith Street, Cullingworth, Waterfront, Poynton House and Mahatma Ghandi.
