
In the LFA campaign, on 7 May 2023, MUT Academy beat Amaqhawe by 3-1 at Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium. The team’s leading goal scorer, Lungelo ‘Scara’ Ndlovu, scored two of these goals. MUT Academy are leading the log table, with 64 points after 25 matches. Real Barsenal are second, with 60 points after an equal number of matches.
The team’s next match is on 14 May 2023, against Sgcino Cosmos, in the same venue.
In Rugby, on 6 May 2023, in the DRSU Walker Cup, Third Division, MUT beat Reservoir Hills by 43-8 points, at MUT Sports Grounds. The team’s next match is against Ogwini Bafana, at MUT Sports Grounds on 13 May 2023.
In Hockey, on 6 May 2023, in the Hockey Association Outdoor League, MUT Ladies lost to DCHC by 6 goals to nil, at Durban High School.
On 7 May 2023, MUT Mens Hockey team beat Varsity College 3-2, at Queensmead
The upcoming Hockey matches, MUT Ladies will visit Thomas More at Thomas More Kloof, on 13 May 2023, while the MUT Mens team will host Gongs 2 on 14 May 2023.
MUT teams will be participate in the 2023 Intervarsity Tournament at UKZN’s Edgewood Campus on 13 May 2023. Other teams taking part in the tournament are UKZN Edgewood, DUT Midlands, and University of Zululand. The sporting codes are Netball, Soccer, Basketball, Bodybuilding, Chess, Swimming, and Athletics. Matches start at 9 in the morning.
Lastly, the University’s Boxing team will be at KwaMashu Indoor Sport Centre on 13 May 2023, for the eThekwini District Open Boxing Tournament. The event is hosted by the Olympic Style Boxing Organisation.
