Security supervisor graduates with a B.Ed from UNISA

Leslie Nene

On 20 July 2022, MUT woke up to grand news that inspired many within the University. This was news that Leslie Nene, a Supervisor at Servest Security Company which provides security services at the University, had graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of South Africa (Unisa). Nene, who works a 06h00-to-18h00 shift at the University, said he studied during his off-days.

“It’s a four-year course but it took me a bit more because there were some modules that I had to cancel. In addition, Covid-19 also caused a delay in my studies. Studying while having a full-time job is a big challenge, but I managed. I used my time-offs. I was so lucky to work at MUT where I could access the internet. This university made my studies a success,” said Nene.

The Head of the Protection Services, Jackson Rammala, applauded Nene for his efforts. He said Nene was a good example to everyone.

“It is inspiring to see him complete his studies even though he works long shifts. This is the kind of commitment and dedication that so many young people could emulate,” said Rammala.
