Perseverance catapults staff from office administrator to lecturing

Bongiwe Dludla

After years of serving Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) as an office administrator, Bongiwe Dludla is now a Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration and Economics. Dludla’s story is about hard work, determination and chasing a dream.

“It pleases my heart to realise that all my hard work has paid off,” said Dludla. “It is not easy being a mother and a career-driven person.”

Dludla described this opportunity as “challenging and exciting at the same time”. She is no stranger to lecturering. She has been teaching in the same department for over two years as a part-time lecturer. Before that, she was a tutor and a high school teacher for many years.

She lectures students in Public Resource Management I, Local Government Management I, Public Management II, and Monitoring and Evaluation III.
