Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) will soon welcome a new building to its bouquet of buildings on the University’s main campus.
The Infrastructure Project Manager at the Department of Operations at MUT, Lubabalo Ngcaweni, cannot wait to show off the new Faculty of Engineering building. On Thursday, 25 August 2022, the role players on this construction project met one last time.
Suvarna Gayapershad, Project Manager and Principal Agent, said the meeting was about the close-out function, which was hosted by Afriscan Construction inside the new building. The meeting was a precursor to the official handover of the building to the University on 31 August 2022.
Gayapershad said the project, which took 28 months to complete, was a result of a collaboration of all the parties. She listed the parties as Afriscan Construction, who were the contractors; PGA Architects – Principal Agent, Project Manager and Architect; Zutari – Structural, civil, mechanical, and wet services engineer; Ibuya Consulting – electrical and electronic engineers; AECOM – Fire Engineers; Abakali – Quantity Surveyors; and Parodi – OHS Consultant.
