Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) is all set for registering students for the next academic year, which starts in April 2021.
Speaking at a registration planning meeting which coincided with the release of matric results this week, Zolisa Gqamane, Deputy Registrar: Academic Affairs, explained that the 2020 academic year was almost completed and that the institution was well on its track to start registering the new cohort of students.
Nkosana Jijimba, MUT IT Business Analyst for student services, said the university had opted for online registration in line with the COVID-19 protocols which also prohibits large gatherings. Nkosana briefed the meeting on the IT&N preparations that he and his colleagues embarked on as they prepared for large volume of students who will conduct their registrations online. The team has prepared for all eventualities. From responding to queries to situations where students cannot access registration services online, the team has everything. This was much to the delight of the Student Representative Council president.
In terms of selecting prospective students who just matriculated, academic departments took turns explaining the status of their selection process. Zolisa expressed his satisfaction with the process and encouraged departments to liaise with his office should they experience any complications as they proceeded with the process.
