The MUT Radio Station is ready to take to the airwaves on 16 June 2021. This week saw the installation of the state-of-the-art broadcast equipment at the studio located outside MarComms offices. Martin Sims, an engineer from Blue Cow – the service provider installing radio station hardware and software, said the equipment was fully installed and ready for the broadcasting team.
Admiring progress at the Radio Station, both the Chairperson of Council, Morailane Morailane and Professor Marcus Ramogale, Acting Vice-Chancellor & Principal expressed hope at the transformatory role that the Radio Station will play at MUT.
Producers and presenters are now learning to use the equipment and are preparing to start broadcasting. Martin added that recorded tutorials and online training would be part of the training package as there cannot be too many people in the studio at once. Martin added that the equipment was a good investment for the University. “The equipment is modern, very appropriate for web-based broadcast,” said Martin.
Next week Maverick Consulting will train 18 potential members of the MUT Radio Station on using the newly installed broadcast equipment.
