Mangosuthu University of Technology has expressed its sadness on the passing of the Regent of the Zulu nation, Queen Mantfombi Shiyiwe (65). The passing away of Queen Mantfombi, the senior wife of the late Zulu King, happened in just over six weeks after the passing of her husband. The gruesome news was announced last night by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Founder of the University, and the traditional Prime Minister (Undunankulu) of the Zulu nation. Queen Mantfombi, a daughter of Eswatini King, Sobhuza II, took over the reigns after the passing of her husband, His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.
The University extends its deepest condolences to the Zulu Royal Family in this difficult time. We are aware that the Royal Family is going through the “deepest shock and distress,” as was mentioned by His Royal Highness, Prince Buthelezi last night.
The MUT flag will fly at half-mast until Her Majesty is laid to rest.
May Her Majesty rest in peace!
