MUT gears up for orientation of new students

Dr Paulette Naidoo

Every year the University conducts its orientation of new students to introduce them to how the university does things. This year MUT will host its orientation of first-year students on 7 and 8 May 2020.

Dr Paulette Naidoo, Director of Student Counselling, this year’s orientation was going to take place online to abide by the COVID-19 protocols. The programme will happen in real time and speakers will be livestreaming from Council chambers. Students will have multiple platforms to take part in the event. A YouTube link will be sent to students, which they will use to access orientation over the two days.

Dr Naidoo explained that those who are unable to access the programme as it happening will have an opportunity to access all the videos from Blackboard after the event. Blackboard, which is zero-rated will enable students with data constraints to watch the videos. The videos will also be available on Youtube.
