From just 15 students in 1979, to over 13 000 students 40 years later! Forty years, that’s right! From 14-16 June the University will be celebrating four decades since it was founded by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. The Prince of KwaPhindangene has been described as a traditionalist, activist, statesman, philosopher, Christian politician, humanitarian and a friend. This week we begin a series of short stories, mainly in pictures, about Prince Buthelezi’s life, from early age to the present.  The pictures are courtesy of the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Museum and Documentation Centre in Ulundi, northern KwaZulu-Natal.
