The MarComms team impressed MUT’s Acting Vice-Chancellor & Principal, Professor Marcus Ramogale, and the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Teaching & Learning, Dr Manyane Makua, during the recognition ceremony on qualifications attained.
“Abanye abantu ungabathatha kancane! I’m impressed with these qualifications”, said Dr Makua after he had called upon Azwi Mufamadi, PhD Rhodes University; Zama Sishi, PGD: Strategic Communications, UP; Bheki Hlophe, MA, UKZN; Jay Roopsunker, PGD: Project Management from MANCOSA and Sthembile Tracy Ndlovu, PGCE from Unisa. For the latter, a teaching qualification is now a requirement to become an effective Schools Liaison Officer. This places her at an advantage because of her professional understanding of the schooling system.
“I’m very proud of my team’s achievements. For many years they dedicated themselves to helping build the department. Their time to shine has arrived. I am confident that these qualifications will reignite their passion in marketing, communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement”, said Mbali Mkhize, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at MUT. “As for Azwi, we have a Dr in the department. He’s an inspiration to all of us. Watch this space, publications loading”, said Mkhize.
