The quick response to MUT by the Gift of the Givers is commendable. Just a quick SMS enquiring if Gift of the Givers could assist students whose food perished after a three-day power failure received a positive nod. “We are saddened about the distress your students find themselves in. Please send us a proposal,” said Mr Muhammad Rayhaan Sooliman, director of projects at Gift of the Givers. Within a few hours, he responded positively that Gift of the Givers will support students residing on campus with tons of food, a much-needed gesture, given that there is a large number of students who are struggling to make ends meet. The following is what was donated: 500 x 10kg maize, 500 x 100s tea bags, 500 x 1L juice concentrate, 3000 x baked beans, 500 x 500g pasta, 500 x 1kg instant porridge, 500 x 500g soup mix, and 500 x 900g jam.

Speaking on the donation, Mbali Mkhize, Senior Director: Department of Marketing and Communications, said, “The support by Gift of the Givers clearly shows us that it takes a village to raise a child. With friends like Gift of the Givers, we are able to respond promptly to the needs of our students “.
