Crowned by the Vice-Chancellor: TLDC successes continue

From left are DVC: Teaching and Learning, Dr Manyane Makua; Professor Lourens Van Staden, MUT Administrator; DVC: RIE, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya; Acting DVC: Resources and Planning, Dr Johan van Koller; and Dr Phiwayinkosi Gumede, Acting TLDC Senior Director

A spirit of grace prevailed at the gala evening to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Focus Conference; a conference conceptualised, birthed, and nurtured by the Teaching and Learning Development Centre (TLDC) on 24 August 2023. In an unprecedented move, Professor Marcus Ramogale, crowned two leaders with a Zulu traditional crown – umqhele as a sign to “ukuhloma uphaphe legwalagwala”. This was a gesture to honour the great work of the TLDC. A crown is often awarded to those who show resilience, leadership, and persistence and are selfless to the cause of the organization they serve.
