Universities the world over take pride in their former students, and do their best to stay in touch with them and to include them in university affairs. As a University, MUT is no exception. This afternoon at 1pm the University will be hosting its staff alumni at Max’s Lifestyle in Umlazi. “We need our internal alumni to play a bigger part in our activities. The fact that they are working for their alma mater suggests that they enjoy the relationship with the University. They would like to see it prospering,” said Modjadji Baloyi, the Alumni Relations Officer.
Baloyi said she was happy with the responses from the alumni who work at MUT. “We have received 77 confirmations (RSVPs), which is more than the 50 we expected. During the event, the VC is going to share MUT values with colleagues, and also remind them that they are the ambassadors of the University. They should contribute in lifting the MUT brand up all the time,” said Baloyi.
She added that they decided on Max’s Lifestyle as it was a way to contribute to the township economy, and that MUT’s long-term agenda involved working with and uplifting the Umlazi Township community. This is part of the Anchor Strategy which Dr Enoch Duma Malaza introduced last year as part of MUT Strategy 2025.
