VISION

To strive to be an excellent provider of quality education in the broad Accounting discipline by benchmarking best practices both nationally and internationally. The core areas are teaching and learning, research, community engagement and liaison with industry stakeholders, including professional bodies.

Benchmark best Accounting teaching practices by responding to regional, national and transformational needs and creating value for all stakeholders, i.e. students, staff, communities, business clients, Government, and professional bodies.

RELEVANCE

Encourage staff to pursue relevant higher academic qualifications.
To continuously improve on curriculum development, teaching methodologies and assessment.
To offer programmes which are accredited by the relevant professional bodies.

RESEARCH

Motivate staff to actively participate in academic workshops/seminars and at conferences.
Publish in accredited journals.

NETWORKING

Regional collaboration with other higher education institutions, professional bodies and industry in order to keep abreast of current developments and practices in the Accounting field.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Provide a platform for both staff and students to engage in research and community development projects.
Provide support to matriculants to enhance their Accounting skills.
Widening access to higher education by offering Extended Curriculum Programmes (ECP).

EXAMINATION AND GENERAL RULES

Refer to General handbook Rule:22 for examination and promotion regulations.
Semester examination will be conducted in both June and November of each year. Examinations in annual courses will be conducted during October/November of each year. The students are urged to familiarise themselves with the general regulations as contained in the general regulations handbook. This booklet is obtainable free of charge from the Student Affairs department.
