A winger from Hluhluwe just wants to play rugby

Thabiswa Nkuna during training

While it is true that the restrictions that aim to shield the masses from the Coronavirus adversely affected the lives of many, it is pleasing to note that there are athletes who continued to train to keep their bodies in shape, and to deal with all the challenges that came with the restrictions. One of them is Thabiswa Nkuna (21). The lanky second year Agriculture (Animal Production) student says he is ready for the friendly matches that will start in June. Thabiswa will be wearing one of these numbers: 14, 11, which are wings, or 15, which is full back.  He started playing rugby at Hluhluwe Primary School, in Hluhluwe, north of KwaZulu-Natal.

Thabiswa is a fan of the Sharks and the Springboks. He would like to play for any coastal professional team. His favourite player is Mpiyampiya, another 14. Thabiswa said he liked the way Mpiyampiya played, and he copied his style of play.
