A front row, rugby player is looking for a team to catapult him to professionalism. Olwethu Mehlwana, (20) a Building (Extended Curriculum Programme) student said until last year, he was playing for Port Shepstone High School. “I would like to play for a professional team. I play any of the front row positions – 1, 2, or 3,” said Olwethu. Olwethu played more than 10 matches for his school. He cannot remember how many tries he scored. Olwethu is well versed with the profession. “My favourite rugby player is Taniela Tupou, an Australian rugby player. He plays for Queensland Reds as a tight head prop – Number 3. The reason I say it’s him is because for me he is an exceptional rugby player. He is mobile. He is quick for his size. In addition, he is just an amazing player. I can safely say that his type of style of rugby is very exciting,” said Olwethu. Olwethu has submitted his name to the University’s Sport Department.
