MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION UNIT (MSEU)
WHO ARE WE?
The Mathematics and Science Education Unit (MSEU) is one of the three units falling under the Teaching and Learning Development Centre (TLDC). As a unit we strive to provide theoretically based, practical interventions, developmental opportunities and support to students of Mangosuthu University of Technology. In line with the existence of the Centre, our Unit will foster monitoring, development and support of teaching and learning within the institution by focusing on the educational needs of students and providing academic support. Our interventions focus mainly on supporting at-risk students in Mathematics, Science and Chemistry.
Our mission is to provide academic support in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in order to enhance student academic success.
We monitor and identify students at risk and provide them with requisite academic support in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Further interventions in the form of tutorials and supplementary instruction will also be deployed to enhance academic success. The MSEU is committed to creating a safe space for students who require support to access and benefit from it. The Unit has three well experienced and qualified lecturers who are ready to assist students.
The MSEU will, in collaboration with academic departments, monitor and identify students at risk of academic failure. These students will be recommended for extra tutorial support by the Unit in order to assist them with their academic work.
